Inspiring Social Media, PR and Marketing Internship

Having frequently been told that interning at smaller companies is far more beneficial, I was thrilled when I received the confirmation of my internship at Health & Fitness Travel. Of course, the rumours were true and having spent two months working at the front line of a small, thriving company, I am confident that the experience I have gained here has been hugely valuable. The only drawback of the internship is learning how best to deal with the everyday struggle of working with some of the world’s most beautiful destinations, and realising that looking out the window will provide no comfort whatsoever.

From day one I felt like an integral part of the team, with ready prepared tasks waiting in my inbox to set me off on the internship. Managing my own schedule and taking on the tasks of blog writing, newsletter editing and online marketing- to name a few, each day I felt a real sense of importance to the company, which I think is a hugely essential (and unfortunately rare) achievement during an internship. I have been extremely lucky to be involved in an exciting project for Health & Fitness Travel, which I hope will be a success in the future. I am so grateful for their investment in my abilities and their trust in me to assist with managing such an exciting and important group of tasks for this project; it’s been a real joy to see it all come together during my final week here.

Having had no experience in PR (and a little in marketing), my expectations of the internship have been positively met and I am now almost certain to pursue a career in PR once I graduate. Of course, this experience was only possible thanks to the incredible H&FT team. They put my nerves to rest after ten minutes of being in their company, and I want to thank them for being such lovely people! Not only have I learnt a huge amount, but I have enjoyed every aspect of this experience, and that’s a win-win for any intern.
